Ok, well today I changed the plugs, the oil, got a new battery and put some gas in it to try and get it to crank. Well it turns over fine, but I found out that Im not getting fuel pressure to the motor. I dont know if the fuel pump is getting power or what, but all I know is that there is no pressure at the fuel filter. What I want to know is where is the fuse for the fuel pump? Should I hear the fuel pump when I try to crank it? TIA. Btw, the car is a gvr4.

You should hear a 3 second fuel pump burst. It will quit until the pcm sees a crank signal. At that time, it re-energizes the fuel pump. As long as there's a crank signal, it should run. If you lose crank signal, it won't. You will also have no spark.

Take a test light back to the pump area and make sure you establish a good ground. This is imperative as if you have a bad ground on your test lead, you will think you have no signal to the pump.

If you have a light, and it's not running. Well, you can pretty safely conclude the pump is indeed bad.

Good Luck

I know it wont run cause I have no spark on #2 and #3 (bad coil maybe), but ill try what you said. Thanks

On the GVR4 the fuse for the fuel pump is the 30A ignition fusable link #5 in the sub-fusable link box under the hood. (rather than on the battery like a DSM)

Like a DSM the power comes from the Ignition fuse to the FP side the the MPI relay and via that relay to the fuel pump and fuel pump check connector.

On the 5 speed cars the signal to switch the relay comes from the starter relay. On the automatics from the inhibitor switch. In either case failure of the safety switch/interlock will keep the fuel pump from turning on and the engine from cranking.

Like Old Mitsu Tech said, once the ECU sees the CAS indicating that the engine is spinning the ECU will pull the other input to the relay low to keep the pump running.

Thank you, I believe that is the reason why its not pumping fuel... no fuse in that spot..

well it turns out, that wasnt the problem. Im going to replace the fuel pump and see if that helps it.
