I have a 91 Eclipse N/t with auto tranny that was in limp mode. I found some broken wires on the transmission so i fixed those but it didnt do anything at first, so i disconnected my battery and the car sat for probably two to three weeks. Yesterday i started it up and it was still in limp mode so i jacked it up and tightened some bolts on the tranny that were loose and it was out of limp mode. Today i went out and started it again and it was in limp mode again but i turned it off and turned it back on and it shifted just fine again. Could this be my tcu or is it just another electrical problem?

I would suspicion a loose connection. Or it could be a TCU. Check all trans connections all the way back to the TCU. If you can't find any, try a known good TCU to see if that's the problem. As far as I know, the TCU cannot be field tested.

One or the other will likely be your problem.

Good Luck
