last week my brother put in a replacement 14b on my car. He said it was boosting too much due to the intake pipe pinching the wastegate vacuum nipple. We tried to play with the pipe to get off but with no luck. So last night i played with the boost controller and pulled out the screw quite a bit. Now it is late spool not like before. The spool before playing with the boost controller was fast and hit hard, now it is late and takes a while to hit full boost. Anyone know of an idea of what's wrong with it now?

I am going to assume its a 1G. It always helps to have your vehicle info listed. I know it's not as big of deal for this question. I would start by eliminating the Boost controler and set up the stock sol. See if it hits normal boost and spool up. If it does, then something may be wrong with the boost control you are using. If not then there is certainly a good poss of a boost leak as stated in prior post. It's also poss that the boost control vac lines were accidentally hooked up backwards. Most manual controllers will have some kind of arrow or mark for in and out make sure that is correct. Let us know if you find the problem or what other symptoms you may find to further help us to help you.

ok I checked it out today and the dejon intake pipe I have IS pinching the vaccum line. I know this is causing my boost problems but on the previous 14b it wasn't hitting the wastegate vacuum line at all to my knowledge. Does annyone know what I should do?

Is this pinching the line right at the wastegate actuator? There should be plenty of room. Compair the two turbos and see if somehow the wastegates are different. If it is a 14b you should be able to transfer your old wastegate to the new turbo without a hitch, provided that will solve the clearance issue. Just looking at mine there is plenty room, so I don't know why the Dejon pipe would interfere with the vacuum line. Let me know how it turns out.

Bend the nipple on the actuator down a little, I had to do the same with my old 16g when I first upgraded to a ebay 3" intake pipe.
