Ok, first post on the dsm boards- i've been fortunate enough to have all my other questions answered by poking around with the search tool..... I am not exactly throwing a CEL (which i've done before, fuel cut is fun!j/k) But my CEL light has a faint glow to it- most noticable at night.... Has anyone seen this before or have any feedback as to what may be happening?

Thanks,
E

never seen it before , but pocket loggers are cheap and very useful i might suggest purchasing one, itll tell you if u accually have a cel or not... off subject, i just bought a gsx in colorado and its 720$bux to ship it  wanna drive it down for me? LOL

Since the ECU turns the CEL on by applying a ground to one side, I'd say you either have 1) a faulty ECU, or 2) you do have a CEL but the bulb is bad, or 3) that one side wire has a partial short to ground (or someone incorrectly wired in something there thinking this was a +12V supply since a meter would read +12V on that wire).

What year is it? if it's a first gen I can let you borrow my datalogger you're in Ft Collins so you're fairly close. Don't ask why I have a datalogger for a 1G when I own a 2G

I agree with luv2rallye, but would offer one more idea. A light may be loose in your dash causing stray light to reach the CEL area. I would pull the dash and see if the light is actually on or if it is just stray light. If your light lights up normal when you start the car I wouldn't worry about a CEL code.
