Well i woke up to go to work today.. it was about 30 degrees out and i let the car warm up for about 2 minutes... So I drive it to work its working just fine.. I have to take a delivery with my car and my transmission took 5 seconds to shift into reverse and drive. When it did shift my car would jerk all over... So I told my friend to shift it once and i was going to look at the engine while it did and the engine is moving everywhere... ive seen my engine move while shifting before and ive seen it while reving but this... this was just crazy... Well i take it for a drive and it took the 5 seconds to shift from first gear to second... or if i shifted it my self into 2nd it would go easier... It does this for all the gears. So i checked to see how much transmission fluid i had and i pretty much was empty on it... So i filled that up to a good amount and its still doing it... That didnt fix the problem. So if anyone has experienced anything like this before and know whats wrong that'd be great to know.
Thanks

The car is a 1997 Eclipse GST Auto

Sounds like time for a rebuild. The auto tranny is junk in the dsm's in my experience (compare to the rest of the car) just make sure you only use atf+3 fluid in your car, it's more money but its very important. Also make sure you check the fluid level EXACTLY step by step by the book, its a weird deal but its important to get the right reading, if everything else is good start savin' up your cash. :( :dsm:

Yeah your Trans sounds like its slipping. Your going to need new clutch packs. But what I have learned is when something is messing up just get a full rebuild. All seals, filter, clutches, and have the converter checked, new fluids etc. The only problem I have ever had on my car is the transmission other than that the engine is pretty damn reliable for a dsm. I make power too 60-1 @ 25PSI =Tranny killer but my engine runs like a champ.
