I'm going out this weekend with some other talons and I've gotta have my car running awesome. I'm short of cash so I cant get a new knock sensor right now. I'm only going to be running 15-17psi on race gas, so I know my engine's not going to be detonating, or at least I hope it wont. My setup is SAFC, hacked MAFS, 450cc injectors, pump rewire, and freemods. I was wondering if you think it's safe for me to pull the knock sensor from the block and put it elseware, or if there's a way I can disconnect it. I dont think I have to be worried about knock at 17psi on race gas, but I could be wrong. My sensor is currently knocking way more than it should, I'm talking 48counts at constant speed, it's defiantly broke/old. Any opinions/ideas would be awesome.

I wouldn't go without it personally, that how the PCM determines where ignition timing should be. Try a local junkyard, they'll probally let you have one for $5-$10 bucks. Either that put in your pocket and tell them you didn't find what you were looking for.

You're hoping your way to a place called Sintered Pistons City.

Do not even consider running without the knock sensor.

Get a new sensor and revised lifters. Dirty old style lifters could be logged as phantom knock...

In fact I think that is probably it as a simple piezo knock sensor will outlast most any sensor on the motor...
