OK, IVE HAD MY 92 TSI AWD FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS NOW. RAN INTO A PROBLEM ABOUT A WEEK AGO THAT I CANT FIGURE OUT AND I'M LOOKING TO YOU GUYS FOR HELP... DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD EVERYTHING IS RUNNING FINE AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND MY TACHOMETER AND BOOST GAGE ARE BOTH IN-OP. CAR WONT START NOW.
2 DAYS LATER IT STARTED UP AND RAN JUST FINE AND DROVE IT ABOUT 50 MILES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. NO PROBLEMS...
GO TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT DAY AND THE TACHOMETER AND BOOST GAGE ACT UP AGAIN...THIS TIME I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM BEHIND THE DASH THAT WAS CONSISTANT WITH THE GAGES COMING AND GOING.
CHECKED ENGINE CODES AND GOT A NORMAL OPERATION CODE
ANY ADVISE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I had the same problem with my talon when I bought it. No trouble code either. But it was the ecu. Take the cover off the ecu and look at the capacitors, if you see a yellow looking substance on the green board your capacitors are leaking and need to be replaced. If not take it to a repair shop and have them put it on their computer. That will tell you for sure.

Danny :talon:

thanks for the help...will pull it out and check that... someone told me that there would be a smell if it was that...any truth to that?

Don't confuse the yellow waxy coating protecting the ECU with leakage. The capacitor leakage will be much darker and not covering the whole ECU, hopefully :)
