Hey guys i've been experincing some weird coolant problems. After driving my car around then shutting it off I can here my car sucking back coolant or coolant boiling in the engine bay. So I opened the coolant resevoir to see if any coolant is left, and to my suprise there wasn't. I then poured more coolant into the resivoir and drove my car again. I noticed that the temperature started to rise while I was idleing. It went pass the middle point then stopped. I'm not sure what to look for because prior to me adding additional coolant i've never experienced any overheating regardless of the sounds I heard in the engine bay. How does adding more coolant raise my temperature? I have already replaced my thermostat so I don't think that could be the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.Thanks-

How is your car running? Are you smoking when you drive or get on the throttle?. And when did you replace your thermostat? have you noticed any leaks in your hose

My best guess is that sound you are hearing is your cooling system venting the steam caught in your system. Mine did that same thing and unfortunately it was a blown head gasket, but it could just be a big air bubble.

Try burping your coolant system first and see if that helps. If that doesn't work, wait until your car is cold, take the radiator cap off and add fluid to make sure you can see it. Then start your car and see if it bubbles out of the water neck.

If it does, chances are your head needs to come off and the gasket needs to be replaced.
