i think i'm having a similiar problem like you. when you find out whats wrong please let me know also.

thanks

joel - I read your post and I think that indeed we might have a similar problem. I need to know more exactly what your problem is.

Simply, I'm trying to get my timing belt on. If I line up all the marks (oil sprocket, crankshaft sprocket) and clamp the belt on the right marks on the camshaft sprockets, I then cannot turn the camshaft sprockets so their marks match up. If I turn the crankshaft a quarter turn off its mark,(as well as having the timing belt on) then I can rotate the camshaft sprockets to their proper position. But doing this dissallows me to turn the crankshaft back to where its supposed to be(aligning the marks).

I'm at a loss here. I've been on this same step for the last day and a half. I need some help.

I really have been trying hard to find out what is wrong here. Its basically is coming down to this: if the crankshaft is in position, the camshafts won't line up (its like the valves are hitting the pistons), but if the crankshaft is slightly off position (it's timing mark), the camshafts will line up to theyre marks, but then I can't adjust the crankshaft back to its setting.

Alright. You guys arent going to believe what my problem was.

The machine shop that I sent my head to get cleaned/machined screwed my head up. They put in my cams backwards! The intake cam is where the exhuast cam should be and the exhuast cam is where the intake cam should be.

I spent over a day and a half now just thinking about what I was doing wrong. It was the "reputable" shop that I took my car to that was wrong.

Unfrickenbelievable.
