My check engine light has came off and on four times in a period of 6 months. It comes on for like two days and then goes back off. At first I thought it was just a bad connection somewhere since it comes on but then goes back off. I got it check at autozone yesterday, p505 code. Which is the IAC motor. My idle for the most part is perfect though. The only time it idles high is after a long distance trip or a hard run up mountains. The guys at autozone told me to change idle control sensor since my light comes on but then goes off. Should I change my sensor or iac motor, or can i just take it apart and clean it to fix the promblem. Any suggestions would be much loved. Thanks.

put your damn vehicle pro up kind of helps if we know what it is and what year by the looks of the p code it is a 96 and up try cleaning it but the windings are problem shot you can check it with a dvom on each pin and get a resistance reading look at the factory manual it will tell you or you can Wait and i will look it up at work
