Is Anyone Else Besides Me Getting Tired Of The Dsm Brakeing Down All The Time. This Is Like The 5th Time My X Is Been Down, And Its Pissing Me Off To The Point Where I Don't Want It. Than Again I Love My Dsm Because Of The Fact There Sick As Hell, There Just Hard To Maintain Also Very Costly. What To Do, Should I Fix My Dsm And Sell It Or Fix It And Get A Bucket For Daily Driver.

My Problems

1. Steel Oil Lines Cracked(twices)
Both Steel Lines From Turbo To Oil Filter Housing Cracked(both At Diff. Times) Fixed

2. O Ring In Oil Filter Housing Busted. Fixed

3. Motor Is Knocking Sounds Like Blown Crank Bearing, Also Has Boost Leak Or Bad Compression(loss Of Power), Hell The Motor Itself Is No Good

Is It Costly To Fix It Or Should I Get A New Motor(on A Budget).
Need Some Advice What Should I Do And I Need My Car(my Only Ride) I Had To Use My Boys Mustang So Please Help....

I hear ya, ive only had mine since january , 95 GSX, non stop problems, if its not one thing its another. Love the car, but man is it a POS LOL.
Current Problems are Funky Power steering, Keeps going through ALternator Belts(replaced pulley, still makes noises), Things keep falling apart(one of the licnese plate lights fell out, the piece of whatever it was attached to rotted out), one of the side skirts is lose, there is a grey piece of plastic inside the front bumper passenger side thats falling out, The drivers seat is just screwed. Clutch does funky things, gets soft when driven for a while, sometimes the pedal doesnt coe all the way out. Now my gas guage stopped working. Not to mention my oil light comes on randomely and i brought it to a shop and couldnt figure out why. Hate Love relationship, maybe if i had 5k to dump into the car id be happy, but Im just starting to feel like these cars shoudl only be owend with people with alot of money and time

$12,000 so far on my vehicle..MAINLY due to taking it to the shop the first two years, I do the work on my own now.

Lets see here since I got the car (2 and 1/2 years) I've had:
- blown turbo oil line
- bad clutch
- bad slave cylinder
- bad master cylinder
- 4 new tires
- alignment problem, didn't notice it until the 4 new tires were worn, fixed alignment, 4 additional tires
- new passenger ball joint
- new CV Axles
- new front brakes, rotors
- 4 new struts
- new lifters
- new alternator
- new battery
- new fan belt, alt. belt, power steering belt, and serpentine belt
- new timing belt, new valve cover gasket
- new front tie rod ends

The current problems:
- two BAD O2 Sensors (car runs like ass)
- possible blown head gasket (oil in antifreeze)
- leaky waterpump
- cruise control no longer works

Quite frankly, these cars require maintence and it will cost a ARM and a LEG if you don't do it yourself. Its MUCH MUCH cheaper to do everything on your own.

As it goes as far as DSM reliability..its simple..these are turbocharged cars..the NEWEST possible DSM (1999) is 6 years old now, its hard to find one that hasn't been beaten to death unless you are one of the lucky ones that finds one that was driven as a grochery getter by an old couple.

If you are the orignal owner and take good care of the vehicle, I feel that these cars can last as long as any other vehicle, the problem is there are VERY few to none DSMs that are well taken care of.

i got mine in Nov. 3rd day i got it,all the belts busted, waterpump went out, sunroof stop working,MAF stop working,ECU stop working, have oil leaks all over the place,Boost Creep from Hell. Boost Leak from hell.losing 2-7 Psi,Downpipe is opening a hole.Clutch MC went out,Clutch went out dude to Clutch MC. i feel like it spends more time in the shop then me,it has cost me more in parts then what i got it for, kinda pisses me off, i kinda wanna sell it at times, but still wouldn't get the 6k i have put into it,plus the 5 i paid for the car. i love my DSM,but sometimes i feel like driving it off a cliff and forgetting about it
