I've got a nice ported head that was on a motor of mine that ate bearings twice, and it must have sent some metal through the head. The cam caps are scored pretty good and the cams that came out were scored badly as well. So I'm going to have to assume that metal from the bearings was what caused the problem. Where can I send this head to get the cam caps cut down, and then align bore them all to fix that problem? I think I remember seeing or hearing that BJ's does repair work like that, is there anyone else?
A question I've been thinking about on this subject is what if it was not oil contamination that caused this problem. What if it was lack of oil in the head that caused it? It is a 1G head that was on a G4CS 2.4L 6 bolt bottom end. I've heard of people talking about how the only oiling passage from the block to the head is through one of the head bolt holes, but how would that be possible, if there's a bolt in there!?!! Can someone show or tell me how the oil gets up there? Thanks.
