I used paint thinner...to each their own. Make sure you cap off at least one of the ends so you can shake it around and clean everything. I hosed it out afterwards and blew it out with an air hose to make sure it was clean and dry.

I used Kerosene...
plugged one end with my hand, poured a bunch in, plugged the other end and shook it like a margharita...
took about 10 times before it ran out clear... amazing how much oil can collect over 8 yrs
to dry i just let it sit on it's side and the kerosene ran out... and used compressed air to dust out all the fins, slammed it back in after 45 mins.. had no problems.. started up and ran fine... kerosene evaporates pretty quick

Never use gasoline, because it's far too dangerous and nothing else works even half so well.
http://www.textsource.org/dsm/icclean.txt
You don't have to go crazy about drying it. It's sucking more air and faster than ten shop-vacs, and at 200°. It'll dry itself inside a mile. Residual gas, paint thinner, solvent or water won't damage the engine in the tiny amount you'll be subjecting it to. Just use the exhaust side of a shop-vac to blow through the IC for a couple of minutes and hook it back up.
I don't know of anything inside the IC nor its piping that'd throw a CEL. I'd suspect it's coincidental..... but busting out the code would solve the mystery.

I used gas.
Then hosed her out with water.
Then set up my Shop Vac to be a leaf blower, and walla.... insta-dry SMIC.

Cleaning the intercooler
Is it neccesary to clean the intercooler in your car ? I just flushed my rad and I was wondering if there's any way I could clean my intercooler. I've never had a turbo car before, so I don't know if an intercooler has any sort of liquid inside of it. I'm thinking that it's probably empty.

Take the intercooler out, put a little gasoline in it, shake it around, dump it out. Repeat until the shit that comes out is not longer black.

Also after a while the pipes get a little oily, so you may as well wash the pipes out while your at it.
P.S. rubbing alcohol works too.

Question about cleaning intercooler
ok, i just got a supra sidemount and i put gasoline in it and shook it around and when i dumped it was BLACK....i kept doing it and now it is almost all clean, but i was wondering if it is okay if i just soak it in gasoline overnight....i dont plan on putting the intercooler to use for another week so i figure that that would be plenty of time for it to dry out....but will the gasoline soaking in there hurt it?
Thanks

It wouldn't hurt it, but it wouldn't be any more effective at cleaning out your intercooler. That's like letting a dish sit in a bucket of soapy water to clean it instead of using fresh water to rinse it off.

Another thread asking the same question as before. If your thread has been closed in the past, then there was a particular reason for this. DO NOT POST THIS AGAIN, let alone a duplicate of this post in another forum. It is looking like a vacation may be needed.

Please do not post the same topic in multiple forums, let alone post a thread that has been closed in the past. Vacation anyone?
