Just started tonight but when i just drive and everything it bogs down adn the air/fuel goes to 0.01 and the rpm jumps down and it will sputter and then it will stop and do it again.. any ideas what it might be? 1990 eclipse gsx. CEL comes on when it does this..

When exactly is the problem occuring? Randomly? Under boost?

Well when i just drive it will do it.. like if i was on the highway or cruise it will do it.. doesnt do it when im boostin... on pulling the code the CEL only comes on when this happens and then it will go off and drive normal then like 2 mins or so later it will do it again..

This may or may not even be the issue for you, but I have a 91 GSX. Mine started doing a similar thing. The idle would jump rapidly and repeatedly, then the engine would do some major stuttering and try to die out on me, then it would stop.

When I checked under the hood, I coudn't see anything obvious so I left it alone. It didn't do it again for another day or so. When I looked the 2nd time, it turned out that air intake line (where it hooks into the EFI unit) was loose, and causing a vaccuum leak. I actually used a dryer hose clamp (all I had available at the time) and tightened it back down. Problem resolved. Take a look. If that's not the problem, well then you've eliminated one of the possibilities I spose. *shrugs*

Codes are stored until you disconnect the battery for 15-20 minutes or longer on OBD I (which is what you have) and on OBD II they are stored until they are cleared with a scan tool.
