shifting problems

I have a 92 Eclipse GS and when you first crank it up when its cold it hard to keep it running at idle but when it heats up it will run normal. Also when I shift gears 1-4 it wont go any higher that 3800 just like it has a rev limiter on it. It wont do it in 5th.

HuMm did you get a CEL yet.. can you rev any higher than 3800rpm, if not i would start w/ the basics.. Like plugs and wires..

I need more info on whats going on, to be able to help you out.

No. It wont even rev up in Neutral. I drove it to work Friday and found out that it does it in 5th also. Its just like it has a rev limiter in it and wont let it go any higher. What its doing is when it gets to 3800-4000 it tries to cut off. Like new cars do these days. But it does it in every gear. I hope I can get it fixed Ive always wanted a car like this.
