Not sure if this is a viable test for trying to catch crank-walk in the early stages, but I would like some feedback from you who know for a fact that your crankshaft endplay is within spec. Please be sure to include what type of clutch you have in your response:
1) Go driving around
2) Put car in neutral while moving
3) Make a left-hand turn
4) While in the middle of the turn, depress your clutch pedal.
Does the clutch pedal feel 'softer' when you do this?
Or does it feel exactly the same as when you normally depress the pedal?
I personally just did this on my '97 GST on 'accident' and noticed that the clutch pedal was indeed a bit 'softer' in feel while making the left turn. Last time I checked the crankshaft end-play (about a year ago), it was well within spec.
Now with ~180k on the motor & body . . . I'm wondering if perhaps CW is right around the corner . . .
OR perhaps this is just the nature of the beast . . .
Thanks for the replys!
