Well I had to get my car towed home the other day and I finally had time today to take the transmission off to see what was wrong with my car. Well when the transmission came off, the flywheel came off with it. Looks like all the bolts on it broke. My question is, could I still use the same crank on my car, or is it screwed up because there are broken bolts in there? Here are some pictures.

Looks like the flywheel grinded the crank end a bit. I'd be worried about the straightness of the rotation after that. Not to mention trying to retap those holes good enough to hold 100ft lbs of torqe. I wouldn't risk it, especially if it's a daily driver.

I have another 6bolt flywheel sitting at the house that is not lighten like this one. So you think I should just get another crank instead of trying to take the bolts out?

I would locate a crank, those are hardened steel bolts, drilling them out straight enough to retap would require a machine shop at least. The reason I say this is because you will need super sharp high speed drill bits and a way to anchor the crank and the drill so that you can only drill through the center of the bolt perfectly. Otherwise fragments will remain in the hole or the hole will be oblong rather than round. The only way to do that would be to put the crank in a drill press which would reqire that you remove it from the block. In that case if you are going to pull the crank to have the bolts tapped you might as well just get a new crank and save some down time.

Wow! Thats the first time Ive seen a dsm shear the flywheel bolts off like that. Did the transmission lock up at a high speed or what?

This is the first time I have ever seen it happened either. From what I am guessing, the shop that touched my tranny last either, didn't torque it down enough or cross threaded it and kept on tightening it.

Hmmm.....I smell possible settlement.......

Called the place that worked on my car and they are going to be paying for the parts to fix my car. So now I'm going to be waiting by the mailbox looking for a check. hehe :)
