hey guys whats up im really stumped here......ok I have been playin with dsms for alittle while now, I have a 433awp 92 talon......I jsut sold my 02 wrx, and jsut picked up a 91 Tsi.......ok well driving it home I noticed it had a few problems, crappy idel when cold, clunkin in teh front, manifol leak...same old stuf. Also tho when I was driving home I noticed it was very slow to boost and ont eh stock gague it would go to 14lbs, iv never seen that before with no boost control. I get it back to my house put it up on the lift, found cracked manifold, and broken stud..ugh...had a 3in exhust but the muffler inside was literally 1 1/2.....and had a cat, so i jsut figured it had major back pressure. So I took the exhust off put on the 2 1/2 system I had layin around also a evo3 manifold, a known good 14b and evo3 02 housing, replaced timming belt and balence belt, ball jointes...havent looked into the crappy idel but I threw in a known good isc to try that but no luck......ok well any way I put a new set of plugs, accel wires, checked timming.....ok all seemed good, but it seems to still rev alittle slow. ok first run took it down the road felt alittle more peppy but still not how it should that for sure.......felt like no boost at all this time and the stock gague was not reading at all, so i stole the boost gague out of my other car and threw it in there. Took it for another rip.....no boost at all!!!!!!! checked stuff out......everything looked ok, took it for another ride 1-2 lbs..........now im pissed......I yanked the line off the waste gate...........no boost till about 5-6k rpm then hits 8lbs but breaks up bad......I was pissed so I just put it away.....what do you guys think my dad thinks its fuel related and to changed the fuel filter but it looks pretty new and when warm the things runs GREAT.....what do you gusy think....any help would be great......sorry for the long post.....oh I jsut wanted to say I dont think I have any big vac leaks I was spraying brake clean areound the idel never changed....help guys, thatnx!!!....phewwww
 
When you say it runs great when warm, do you mean you get normal full boost when warm.

Have you bypassed the bcs and ran a vac line strait to the actuator, run it wide open.

Have you checked the ECU. I had a gst once that would run right and it ended up a bad ecu.

put my rear gague in there....checked timming....no boost leaks......iv tried that stuff, im gonna do a compression test today when I get out of work
 
ok checked compression about 150 across the board.....did the boost leak test and found the intercooler leaking as well as one of the ic hoses......replaced with a stock ic I had and a stock ic hose.......now I can get about 9lbs out of her but it takes sooooooooooooo long to boost.....I maybe hit 4-5 in 1st and about 8 by almost 7k in all the other gears........what eslse should I check?
 
its a good turbo it came off my cousins before we put the big 16 in his, it used to boost just fine and there is very very minimul shaft play in it.....I never cheked it but what if the throllt plate was not opening all the way?
 
you really think it could be the ecu? ill go and pull it out and say if it smells like ass
 
well got the ecu out, does not really smell.....but if i look at the caps I can see where they have been leaking.....can I fix that or no......they might be to far gone
 
ok I yanked my other ecu out of my moster dsm....I just relized I think it is a e-prom ecu...will that work in my other car? I posted a pic, let me know if it is really a eprom it looks different from the ecu out of my new car....my new car is a 91 federal, and my moster is a 92 federal bother manuals

I dont think its that, also what I pull teh w/a off it coes off the flapper very easy....I dont know what else to do.....oh I also did the vacume mod so I know there is no vac leaks
