i have a 1991 mitsubishi eclipse. about a yr ago the engine bay caught fire. well after that the car will still start but when u try to put it in gear it wont go anywhere... anyone know or have a clue about what could be wrong?

what do u mean... i dont know nothing about this car.. my brother gave it to me a while back but i never coulf fig. out what was wrong with it

I guess I should have asked first whether this is a manual or an automatic transmission. If its manual the linkage should be connected right on the front of the tranny. There are two long black hose looking things that run out of the firewall and connect to the front of the trans. If its auto its something internal with the transmission.

thanx man...yeah it is manual tranny... but like my brother told me that he thought it was the wiring harness bc some of it kinda melted but i am not sure.. we also thought it could be the fuel filter, and maybe even a sensor?

We really need more information. What exactly are you doing that it "won't go anywhere"?

Does it start and run and idle well? What happens when you engage/disengage the clutch or put it into gear?
