my car runs fine but everynow and then when i get on the throttle without dropping it down a gear i can hear the turbo spool and my guage reads ~13-14 psi but the revs just dont seem to go up, they stay the same... i recently got a logger and checked it out and when this happens it shows like up to 43 count of knock... i dont know what it could be... it doesnt do it all the time and it will make the engine buck when i let off the throttle.im not sure if i have a boost leak but if i did wouldnt the boost readings be lower. all i have done to it is a MBC and a K&N.

I had the same problem, mine was a bad coil pack. you can find the test ina chiltons manual(sorry mine is at work and I did it a year ago on a 2g). you should also check for boost leaks, fueltrim, o2s and so on to see what kind of fuel and air you have. all those can cause this concern, you are just pulling timing into the negatives. log those pids and get back to us.

i forgot to mention that it happens at half throttle most of the time... like i can just be cruising and i look down at my logger and it shows like 30 some counts of knock... i just recently logged my first drag runs and it showed 23 counts of knock... im running 14 psi

rpm 6718
injp 16.12
knck 23
02-R 0.87
tps 97.2(yes i was at wot)
Timing 14*
FTRL 112.5%
FTRM 96%
FTRH 83.5%
FTO2 100%
MAFS 1603.9

on my drive home i logged only 16 counts of knock at 6700 RPM and 16* TIMa

at idle my timing is at 9 or 10 degrees, sometimes it will drop down to 6 or 7 degrees
TPS at idle is around 10%

someone down at the track said i may have a bad knock sensor
im gonna put a fuel pump on tomorrow, and my exhaust, clean my intercooler, and see what its doin then. i might try to put some octane booster in as well to see if it changes.

i ran my best time after my exhaust install a 15.7 at 89 mph(the same as before my exhaust, it should be higher after the exhaust upgrade right) but i was pulling timing down to 11* from the 28 counts of knock i was getting. earlier i put a filled to half a tank of 93 octane and put a bottle of 104 octane booster in to see if it would help out. would i have to wait for the ecu to "learn" the new octane i was using? after i left it had rained and i got on it a few times going home. 15 psi in the rain on FWD= NO traction. while spinning at 6500 rpms i got a max of 7 counts and 22* timing advance. i dont get it what would make it run $hitty at the track but fine out on the street? i dont get it. any help would be greatly appreciated (not sure i if spelled that right)

i put a bottle of the 104 octane booster in saturday morning and i guess the ecu had to adjust to the higher octane and for it to clean the fuel system because saturday night after i left the track the car showed no knock at all. sunday morning out running around i ran 16 psi with 5 or 6 counts of knock max.
