well, i have a 92 eagle talon tsi, and its an auto. I wanted to show my friend how it drove, so when he rode in it he called it slow! He said that its becasue my car isnt shifting or somthing. Like, even when i floor it going 10 mph, it dosent kick or anything, it just hangs around 3k rpm until i hit like, 45-55 mph. And it is a turbo, but i never hear the BOV, its suposed to go off when i shift right? But if my car isnt shifting... than it dosent blow off... plesae help, im stumped... Thanks

no, im pretty sure its not the turbo. Because i can hear it spool up, and my gauge reads that its puttin out pressure. The thing thats wierd is that when i go, the rpms NEVER get above 3k until i hit like, 45 mph. Like, you know how in most cars, its shifts... well mine dosent... it dosent look like it atleast... how much would a new transmission cost??

well, like i said before, im pretty sure its not the turbo, casue the car dosent even shift... it feels like its stuck in 3rd or 4th gear... and theres no kickdown either...

Guys, I don't think this is turbo related.

I think chwistopha has a trans that won't downshift. Stall speed in a DSM auto transmission is 2600-3100 rpm, so the engine is running right where it should be. However, no kickdown.

I think the trans actually starts in second gear, even when stopped, to reduce creep. Its supposed to drop down into first when the gas is hit. Sounds like no go.

Im no expert in gearboxes - I think its time for the dealer or a trans shop.

Good luck

Kyle

This makes no sense to me unless Im reading wrong...

Are you saying that it accelerates but the tach stays at 3k until you hit 45-55mph? If you were accelerating than the tranny has to be moving as your ngine has to be climbing in rpm...maybe the tach is broke and its just slow cause its an auto... Or are you saying that when you floor it its stays at 3k and doesnt accelerate at all? Clarify please

Sounds to me like the trans is in fail-safe mode. In an auto it can go up to stall speed and accelerate slowly because it's stuck in 3rd gear. Try resetting the ECU it might work for a short time but you need to get your trans checked.

i have the same problem with my 93 eclipse non turbo!!!!!! i just got the tranny replaced and its still doing it. bringing it in tomarrow to get rechecked. will post what happened tomarrow...,

well, it DOES accelerate, but its like, it will rev to 3k quickly, and stay there until i get to around 40 mph, then start climbin after that. Im pretty sure its stuck in A gear...

and i DID try ratcheting it, and it diddnt do ANYTHING at all... i was scared :thumb:
