I whipped up a vfaq leak tester and began testing. I found that the inlet to my intercooler was corroded (as is common in 1g's). I patched with JB Weld since someone with a TIG welder was hard to come by around here. While the JB was taking the 15 hours to dry, I figured I'd hook up my EVO III exhaust manifold and connect my EGT gauge. Got that done. The turbo gasket looked to be in good condition, so I chose to reuse it (I know I know, shame on me). Anyway, the JB Weld finished drying and I reinstalled the intercooler. Resumed testing...I had pressure coming through the breather hose, so I plugged that off. Then I heard air coming from SOMEWHERE around the turbo. I can't pinpoint it...so my questions are:
Where could this leak be coming from?
Is this an intake air problem or an exhaust air problem?
If this is an exhaust air problem, how is it getting through my engine? (possibly a deeper problem?)
Any insight you have would be great!
TIA
