I have a 91 tsi that i cant seem to get to run right. when you hit the gas and the turbo spools it misses badly blows black smoke and bucks. I read all the hints i could find so i started with checking for boost leaks and i found a few the hoses near the thermostat were leaking and the pcv valve hose was leaking so i used the diagram from taboo and blocked off the uneccisary lines and ran the pcv valve to a catch can. still bucking and missing. so i did the next thing changed the plugs to new ngk's gapped to .028 new ngk wires and a diffrent coilpack still bucking and missing. the car is bone stock with just under 100k on the odo. does anyone have any other things i could try to fix this problem thanks for any help.

oh and if it helps the car is running horribly rich fouls the plugs blows tons of black smoke and gets aweful gas mileage. additionally the problems are less noticable the colder it is outside.

had this problem a couple days ago, not quite to the extent that it seems your having... my mass air somehow came undone.... long shot but check it out, when you did you vacume lines make sure the one to your fp reg are okay..

i know it cause im running rich i want to know why. the mas is connected and the ones to the fpr are good i retested and i have no boost leaks anywhere in the system. i was wondering if it could be a bad mafs. i also have a loud clacking noise not lifters not bottom end its some other noise sounds like its coming from the trans side of the head down lower that goes away after like thirty seconds of driving if that could be related. please help!

would a timing issue be affected by outside temp. this problem is weird it doesnt appear when its cold out i bought the car in a cold month up in the mountains and didnt notice the problem on the test drive when it warmed up down here is when it really became noticable.

im not sure...i washd my engie off one day and the next day i started it and had a similar problem to what you described and it end up being my timing....no idea how but it was....still baffled by it LOL id at least check into it....i wouldnt say that going fro cold to hot would affect it though...at least not enough to make it buck and miss...good luck
