ok so we got the turbo on and was driving around for about an hour and then the motor starts to make a knocking noise we come up to a stop light and when we go the engine sounding really bad the car tries to jerk to a stop but is still running we drive it to the nearest place we know and there it sits till i can find out what is wrong and fix it any thoughts?

Thanks
David

BTW: its a gs-t with a 4g63 engine and yes the turbo was hooked up correctly

from your excellent description i am going to tell you it could be anything.

maybe it was your desription that has people stumped on it

haha sorry about that ok here goes i have a 2g eclipse with a cyclone 4g63 bpu its making a banging noise from the short block i can hear it when its just sitting there but it gets louder when i give it gas. the oil pressure has not dropped much coolant is good vac is at about 20 i have talked to a few people and they say it sounds like a rod bearing

Hey thanks for the reply. I talked to my friend at the dealership and he said he can get me some rod bearings for around $13 each but they have 3 types and i dont know what one to get. Is there any aftermarket bearings out there? also is there a need to tear the whole motor apart? cant i just take the oil pan to replace them?

David

the correct procedure would be to have the crank turned, then getting new bearings, but you can get away with dropping the pan and replacing the rod bearings. if you just drop the pan and replace the rod bearings turn around the sell the car to someone, this way you won't have to deal with it later on. :thumb:
