I have used search button, but didn't find the particular answer I was looking for. I have recently rebuilt my short block. I thought, what sounded like lifter tap, was in fact just that. My head gasket broke, so I replaced that, and put a new head on it. The noise is still there, but I found out that it is more likely knock from a rod. The problem is, my car will boost only so high, and then immediately start to sputter, or make some kind of fluttering noise, only to not boost. Some people thought that it was fuel cut. It is almost kind of like fuel cut. You can tell that it is not a boost leak. I was wanting to know, since there is in fact knock, would my knock sensor detect that, and not only retard timing, but prevent excesive boost? Please advise if you know anything. Thanks in advance, Ross
