is the manual wrong

i am removing the head on my 1990gsx. the hains manual says that you need a 13mm hex tip socket. the problem is that it is almost imposabe to find a 13mm. after checking on the forum i have discovered taht some people say that the manual is wrong and it is actualy a 10mm and others say that they used a 13mm.

so who thinks it is what?

why not take the valve cover off and find out for yourself?

Hayes and Chilton manuals are noted for being natoriously wrong about many things - especially bolt specs. Never trust their torque specs. I personally broke head and connecting rod bolts using their specs.

They are wrong it is a 10 mm hex head .

My stock headbolts were 13mm 12 point. This was on a early 92 talon awd turbo with a 6 bolt.

so then the pattern seems to be that the 6bolt heads are 13mm and the 7bolt heads are 10mm?
the last and only talon that i have removed the head on didnt need a hex at all, but i am coming to think taht that may not have been the original head and bolts.

i just took out my headbolts today and they were 10mm hex

Pulled a head on a 91 6-bolt (of course), and it was a 10MM hex, not a 13 like haines said. BASTARDS!!!

so i think taht it is settled. the head bolts are 10mm and not 13mm. the manual is wrong.

Mod edit: it is actually 10mm SOCKET HEAD, which requires a 10mm Allen tool -Leon (didn't want to bump an old thread)
