I have a 92 1g 6bolt. timig slipped and now i need to replace a piston. I found a local guy that had extra set of rods and pistons 1g. He said the block may have been remanufactured, but he wasnt sure. Now I finally get the bad piston out and go to try the other set to make sure they fit and the skirt wont go into the cylinder at all. So i take the rings off and flip it and try it from the top of the piston and the top of the piston goes in but thats it. Am I doing somehting wrong or is the piston an overbore? Could the cylinders be warped?

The top of the piston is smaller than the skirt , this allows for heat expansion as the top is the hottest area so the top of an oversized piston can sometimes fit in a stock bore. The piston is likely from a bored engine but this is something you should not guess at , take both pistons to a local machine shop and measure them properly .

The crank it was on had red markings on the sprocket. and the letteroing/numbering on the piston is the same as the ones i got
