Ok. We changed my water pump the other day. My car is a 2.0 non turbo. Car was running superb before the water pump change. We adjusted the timing according to vfaq.com and I admit that the timing is a HAIR off. Literally a hair. Not I have lost all power, acceleration, the engine shakes violently when just at idle. I don't have a CEL. Temperature is where it should be and oil pressure is good. Can't figure out what the hell is wrong. Would the timing being off this little bit effect the car's performance? And by letting my engine idle could this have damaged it? We already changed wires and plugs thinking that was it but it done no good. Any help is very much so appreciated.

Having your timing off could definatley cause Lack of power and vibration.

how do you know you lost power and acceleration if you only idled the car?

if your timing is off, the fuel is detonating and part of the explosion is leaking out the exhaust. or vice versa.

I would definatly not run the car if you think timing is off.
