I was driving along the other day and my gauges went dead. Fuse blew, replaced it, blew again after the engine started. I pulled out the gauge cluster and the board in back looks fine. Put in a new fuse and started it without the cluster, and it still blew. The lights on the gauges still work, but no movement. I also realized I had no idiot lights, no cruise control, no power windows, and no rear defrost. I am stumped. I checked the fuses under the hood and they are all fine. The only one that keeps blowing is the one for the gauges. Has anyone had this problem or know of anything to check? I can't seem to find any schematics for any of the internal wiring so if anyone knows of a fusible link or common ground that could go bad, please tell me the general location if possible. Thanx.

I found the problem, the driver's side window switches were messed up. I cleaned and greased them up now everything works fine. Windows move smoother and quicker as well.

My stepfather used to be a mechanic, and he suggested it. It is really simple. Do you have a service manual or have you taken your door apart before?

Just driver's door. Be careful when taking apart the switches, they can be a bi***. I used alcohol and Q-Tips to clean them. Remember to put dielectric grease back in them. Oh, yeah there is a special way the contacts go back together so pay attention to the orientation of ALL parts inside the switches during disassembly. I was skeptical too, but it worked for me. I'm happy to help, and good luck!
