I recently just overhauled my car, changed the timing belt, the crank seals, the valve stem seals, new water pump. After everything was installed, the car ran fine without anyproblems, then two weeks i would be driving and u hear a click coming from the fuel pump relay and it would shut down. WEll i changed the fuel pump relay and that wasn't it, then i changed the crank angle sensor, the fuel pump, modulator and ignition coil, but the car keeps shutting down on the highway and locally, i seriousl need some help. It could be a couple things I can think of off the top of my head:

1) Make sure your positive battery terminal isn't touching the hood of the car.

2) Your ECU capacitors could be dead/dying. You'll want these replaced anyway even if it's not the problem. Look around for where/how to get that done.

i was reading this other thread and somebody mentioned an Automatic Shut OFf switch behind the head unit, can that be it

thanks alot man it was something to do with the positive terminal, but it was the ground wire coming from the ecu to the fuel pump relay that was shorting out and was stalling out my car, thanks alot for the suggestion

I know my response is a bit late but I've been having this problem and basically been letting my 92 Talon just sit for the last 7months. I've been getting a clickity sound from around the ECU area and bam the car shuts down (normally will do it when I accelerate @ varying speeds). Sometimes it'll start right back up, sometimes it wont but the problem just won't go away. I was told that the ECU doesn't make clickety sounds so that noice would be coming from elsewhere. I'll try and check the ground from the ECU, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

I just got tired of towing the car home everytime, I think I've racked on more miles towing than driving, well at least that's the way it feels...

Yo, try checking the ground wire that is going from the ecu to the fuel pump relay, that can have electiricyt flowing through it there fore giving the fuel pump relay a signal and tats whre the click is coming from, to shut downt he car. try making a ground wire and welding i tto the body of the car, tats wut i did and thank god its running again..tell me wut happens aite man.. peace
