Shifting Problem

Ok about three months ago i got another clutch installed by a mechanic and ever since when i was going into 2nd from first it would grind sometimes well and sometimes when i downshift from 3rd to 2nd it wont even go in.. I dont know if he messed something up or if my tranny is just going. Does anyone have any help or possible answers. It never did this before i brought it in

have you checked the underhood bushings that connects the ring on the end or the hydralic line to the pin on the trans?
because i had a similar probem in my 93 awd, 5th and reverse were terrible too, reverse grinded really bad all the time, and it was impossible for me to shift into 1st while moving. turned out the plastic bushing for my left right shifter hydralic line was all blown to pieces(about 20% of the plastic piece was there, it was real bad), got metal ones and it fixed the problem. they are directly under your intake onthe trans.

this might not be your problem, but its a chance it could be. the pieces are easy to break, espicaly if they are original from 91.

Maybe adjust your shifter and linkages.

If you try what what said above and still no luck then your 2 gear syncro is going out. Be sure that the mechanic put gl-4 tranny fluid in because gl-5 will eat the syncros on our cars.

You can try Bg sycroshift tranny fluid to try to quite the grinding if you do not have the funds for a rebuild.
