on one, 6 bolts hold the flywheel on, the other has 7 of em holding it on! plus 6-bolts have lower compression, better flowing heads and intake manis and throttlebodies. that's all i gotta say for now, sumone else will pick up where i left off im sure

I got a question to add to that.
I have a '92 wich has the early 7 bolt (no crankwalk) my question is do the 1g 6bolts still have better heads, manifolds, ect or are they the same? Because I know the 1g 7bolt have the same stock HP.

as far as the diff between 1gen motors it's the number of bolts and the smaller rods, but the compression is the same, and in late 93 I believe they switched to a smaller thottle body and smaller cam specs but that is all I can really think of right now.

7 bolt timing belt same as 6 bolt?
my 7 bolt ate a valve and its toast. so i was wondering if i can use the same timing belt since mine is only about 10k old. im in the market for a 6 bolt as well if anyone knows where to get just a block or a built motor or something along those lines let me know.

yeah im pretty sure they are the same...
one way to find out is to go online and look at a dsm shop if there is a 6 bolt/7 bolt option the parts are probably different if not they are probably the same

i think the main difference is the crank setup is different. like the size of the bearings and what not. alot of people say its better to run 6 bolts but the conversion seems like a pain in the azz. i like my 7 bolt just fine. i still smoke em"

Its a 420a. A 6-bolt is used in place of the 7-bolt because it has less of chance of developing crankwalk.

Are there any differences between a 1G 6bolt and 7bolt head, or are they interchangeable? Please help me out, but don't guess!
Thanks

1992 - 6 bolt or 7 bolt ?
I have a 1992 Eclipse GST. The sticker with curb weight, vin etc says production date was July 1991.
Do i have a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt. If its a 7 bolt, what drawbacks will I have with modding and is there a possibility of crank walk on a 1g 7 bolt?
thx

difference from 7 bolt and 6 bolt
I was having an oil leaking problem on my gst and it turned out to be the valve cover was cracked. So I went to napa to get the gasket and I go to put it on and it was the wrong gasket. so I swing back to napa and double checked it, so I asked for a 91 gst gasket and it was the right one. I would think that all the turbo motors would be the same but is this a way to tell if its the 6 bolt. I bought the car and no one knew anything about it. What are the signs that a 6 bolt was swapped. Let me know it would be pretty nice if it had one already. Thanks
