It's a Gleaner tractor turbo and will be terribly inefficient on your car. I wouldn't even try to use it.

Man I must be SOL! I have a tractor turbo on my car and it runs great! And a newer version has done 11.2 at 126mph

Pics and numbers are nice, but we still need wheel measurements. We don't know what part number is what with that company. . . We need more details than it is a tractor turbo. . .

I know there are tractor turbo's that work. I have used one. But the only information I could find online was that it was a Gleaner and it was rated for low HP with a massive A/R. A combination that wouldn't work to well on a DSM.

The hx35 is rated for 200-300 hp. . . Diesel horsepower ratings have nothing to do with gas applications.

What is the a/r of the housing???

Take the housings off and measure the inducer/exducer of both compressor and turbine wheels and let us know.
With that many single vaned compressor blades on it, it will most likely not be worth the modification to get it on the car.

You found him....or should I say he found you.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that thing is in HORRIBLE shape. Just look how soaked the turbine wheel is from turbine seal leakage.

Your turbo's labeled a TRW, but it's built by RaJay:

For more info on the RaJay parts kit needed to rebuild this boat anchor, and every reason you shouldn't install this turbo on your car, check out: RaJay Kits

It sure would suck to do all the modifications to bolt this turbo up and have it smoke immediately, then tear it all back off and start over because you can't find a parts kit for a 30-year-old turbo. If you're seriously that cheap, try an eBay GT35R....you'll at least have a 1 in 200 chance of getting one that doesn't blow up in the first 20 miles, which are better odds than what you have with this thing.

Further, Toofast82 is right, and NOW in can agree with Stroked98TSi, as well. Now that wee see the turbo, we can see the compressor design is not favorable for a 4 cylinder. It will have poor high boost efficiency and surging issues having such a large inducer with no stagered blades. The stock 14b has no stagered blades, but has a much smaller inducer diameter and much better blade angle for the axial portion (inducer).

Tell your friend with the Mustang there are three factors in racing

cheap

fast

reliable

and you only get two of them.

It doesn't matter how big the thing is....if the turbine seal's leaking and you can't buy parts anymore, you're wasting your time.

that will be a terrible turbo to work with 5.0L of displacement.

I remember the days when guys saw the hx35 and thought that turbo must push t60 airflow. It was just the compressor cover that was large.
