OK, so I had code 48 which is a shorted TC lockup solenoid. I unplugged the trans connector and measured the red wire resistance and it was 3 ohms. Should be 12-13 I am told and read. So I order a new one thinking this is it. I replaced it last Sat, cleared the TCU and Check Engine light. Went for drive and noticed no "lock up type surge in OD or if I tap the brake at 55MPH and steady RPM the rmp's dont jump up a bit. Later the CE light came on and I have the TCU code 48 back. 1 question I have for guys with auto cars is does yours do that when you tap the brake in OD? (I have had these codes since buying the car a few months ago so dont know how it should act for sure) Anyhow I pulled the trans plug tonight and read the resistance on the red wire and it is 13 ohm now on the red TC lockup wire so not sure why that shorted TQ code 48. Amy input or ideas?

first off, could you fill out your profile so we all Know what year and type of car you have, also if its the code I found is that code 48 means there is a PCM failure, SRI Mile note stored.

pull the tcu and check it out make sure it looks ok also try switching it with a diffrent one and see if that helps

I updated my profile. It is a 1995 Talon TSI turbo AWD. Also, the TCU is the trans computer and the PCM/ ECU is the engine only computer. They are 2 diff. boxes and codes. The TCU con only trip the ECU will a 0700 cade that turns on the Check Engine light to indicate the TCU has a code and needs scanned. The TCU then has diff. codes that can be read by a flashing light in pins 4 & 6 on the diagnostic connector or the factory scan system. (I think I am corret in all that?)
