HEY THERE NEED HELP ASAP... SO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I UPGRADED TO 1.AFTER MARKET INTAKE AND INTERCOOLER PIPES. THE CODE THAT CAME OUT WAS
P0170-(FUEL TRIM MALFUNCTION BANK #1) WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN. THE CAR BOGS WHEN AT HIGH SPEED. i CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND FOUND NONE. THANKS FOR READING

I think the first thing you need to address is your Caps Lock key, since it seems to be malfunctioning. After you get that fixed, then move on to the P0170 CEL.

Fuel trims are what the ECU uses to compensate for a rich or lean condition based on feedback from the Front O2 sensor. When it runs out of pre-programmed adjustment, it trips the CEL to indicate a problem.

Did you unplug your O2 sensor when you were replacing the piping and forget to plug it back in? As for bogging at high speeds, that another problem. The ECU doesn't use FT's at WOT so the Front O2 sensor isn't going to cause that problem. Did you perform a boost leak test after installing the piping?

Hey, so since I did my mod, (air intake) the car was wasting a little more gas than usual. I checked for leaks and found none, so the code that came was, P0170 Fuel trim Malfunction Bank #1. And like the newbie I am, I have no idea what that is. Can it possibly be that my O2 sensor is no longer good. So if someone knows please help or explain to me whats wrong.

Did you unplug your o2 sensor and forget to plug it back in? Check for boost leaks as well. Most likely it will be your o2 sensor. Searching would have yielded 13 threads asking the same thing. And you would have had your answer in the same amount of time it took you to start this thread.

And you could have given tips to a new member on keywords and proper searching in the same time it took to post your reply. In the rules it states:

I gave him the answer I got from searching. Did you not read the first part of my post? And I took the time to look at his previous posts and he has already been warned of grammar and not using the search feature before posting a new thread.

Does any one have an idea what this engine code belongs to -P0170-
I get a fuel cut, and hear sputtering. I did a leak test but didnt hear one.
I need to do the one with the soap water. I changed spark plug wires, and the spark plugs it self. I narrowed it down to a bad ecu or fuel pump. Anything would help. thanks for reading.

When I had that code it ended up being the front o2 sensor. Do you get bad gas mileage?

I do get bad milage.
YES I did changed the front 02 sensor back when the check engine light
first lit up. I performed everything I named. Should I take it to a Shop that
does DSM's only, so that they can take a look at it. ROADRACE ENGINEERING in so cal.

Hey hopefully this can help. I found it on another thread with the same problem
