Hello i have done some research and people have said that some problems will cause the CEL to come on and hurt performance and others will not but i can't find a list of CEL's thats cause it to hurt performance.... i have a CEL for #36(pulsed secondary air injection) on my 95 Eclipse GS, will this cause any effect on performance? and also i have heard that cars from 1995 and before will not have any effect on performance from the CEL's at all...is this true??

It's not really the CEL that can hinder performance, but the cause of the CEL that wil hinder performance.

o i must have misunderstood what someone said then...so would #36(pulsed secondary air injection) have any effect on performance then ??

you do not need the secondary air injector setup anyways, if im not mistaken there is acually a recall to remove it from the system, and to fix the CEL for it you just locate the Secondary Air Injector Plug, you take a 5.5k Ohm resistor and plug it in and bam, its gone.:thumb:

I heard that when you drive around with your CEL light on that the computer goes into open loop mode (kinda like leaving your thermostat out) and that performance and economy suffer. Any opinions? Maybe this is only for OBD II?
