I wouldnt take anything out except air conditioning(if anything) with your daily driver. Otherwise driving your car might turn into a chore.

Weight Reduction
Not exactly on topic, but chassis tuning seems to fit the bill. I own a 1g AWD, completly gutted, fuel cell, take out the passenger seat for raceday, etc. What else can be done to reduce weight? Are there any tubular control arms available? CF hatch? I'd like to keep glass in the front and two side windows, but everything else is fair game. No p/s, a/c, washer fluid, windshield wiper motor, etc.. it's a street driven track car. I found a cf hood from some website a while back but cant find it now, I need a 1ga hood. Shep claims 2650 w/driver, what's his secret?

I dont thing this would be the right forum.
On the weight reduction side, from what you have, thats about it. If you are thinking of getting lightwieght suspension parts or a tube frame, i wouldnt even do that on a street driven car, its just a waste of time. You can make more than enough power on the stock body components with a larger turbo and correct tuning. Shep went into the 9's with all but a CF hood and the stock body.

Look into getting some windows from speedglass.
Magnus used to make fiberglass hatches, which are a BIG weight reduction.
A CF hood is another 30 pounds.
Have you replaced the seats with race seats, and pulled out all the stock seatbelt stuff? That's a big weight drop there.
There is a lot of little stuff too. Wheels, tires, battery, etc.

Polk Performance sells suspension parts for the 1g. You should hit them up. Great guys to work with. Shep runs a few of their parts. Polk Performance

Weight Reduction
I'm in the process of buying a turbo'd 97 Eclipse . What I want to do is reduce the cars overall weight, are there any companies that make weight reduction kits for the 2g Eclipse? If so how much do they typically cost? I know there are ways to do it, but I want to do it right so I won't have problems in the long run with the car.

I've never heard of that sorta kit for any car.... I mean... if ya wanna take out weight, your car is gonna have to end up looking a little meh!!.... take out whatever you dont use.. carpets, seats, AC, spare tire, etc.... but I rather be a little slower than having a car that looks like shyt with no inner body panels.
You can do two things at once tho here, start buying light weight engine parts, which will save you a lot of weight and give you better performance, such as radiator, oil pan, exhaust, etc..... all these will be made outa light wieght matieral, and give you improved power.

Uh... yeah. Lightweight engine, that's the ticket.
Meanwhile, somewhat more adjacent Earth, you could go for a carbon fiber hood, fiberglass fenders and bumpers, and if you're nuts, lightweight glass replacements and a carbon fiber hatch. Which will all add up to about half-again the cost of the car, and save you about 400 pounds.
If you want a light car, a DSM isn't really the best platform to start with.

weight reduction kit? what is this gran turismo?
unlike video games its rather inexpensive to remove weight from one's car. it all depends on how much you are willing to give up, and if you have 10/12/14mm sockets.

Stock radiator ways 6 lbs. You can't beat that. see link below. And also from experience the fluidyne is way heaier than stock. You can get lighter more effecient fans though, spal, slimline, etc....

I'm not new to cars what so ever but this is only my second DSM and the other cars (non-DSM) I owned had weight reduction kits, though they were extremely hard to find.

ok so they're not actually called "weight reduction" kits I call them that so it's easier for me to remember. I was thinking since last time I posted that I could replace the stock pieces with CF or FG instead of the heavier sheet metal and other materials. Anyone think that won't work for a Turbo'd 97 Eclipse?
