Im out I dont get alot of hours at work and it turns out that some of the few I get during this week happen to be noon to 5 on the day of the meet. Grrrr priorities .
i went to the 2006 minnesota 3si all mitsubishi cookout car show looking like that! (i wanted to be unique and i was hoping there would be an award for "dirtiest dsm")
some people came up to me and asked if it was painted on because the dirt looked so smooth and soft
pics:
I got a chuckle out of it. You coming to the All Mitsu Cookout this year?

I plan on it. hmm if i want the dsm dirty to keep my title, i should probably get started on that now :P
That cookout was fun as hell! i have never seen so many starions/conquests in one spot! not even at mod 06 or mod 07! its so much fun to see that many stealths/3kgts as well!
That is on august 24th. i have a friend's wedding in millwaukee the next weekend; thats a lot of driving, but i'll make it work.
btw, has anybody heard anything about mod 08 in normal? i know the mod i california already happened.

sorry to seem indecisive, but my girlfriend was just talking to her father and my trip this weekend has been cancelled!
yay!
so, car show on saturday afternoon, drive to des moines for the dsm meet, and then to waterloo for autocross! i think i am still gonna take monday off of work so that i can get a day of rest after all that racing.
i can't wait guys!
unfortunately, my talon is still sitting on bad rear wheel bearings so you guys are gonna have to put up with the civic. i have been contacting someone at a mitsu dealer to get some oem bearings since one of these bearings that are shot is an oreilly auto parts bearing i put on the car 3 or 4 years ago. wheel bearings should last longer than 3 or 4 years.

And spaz, is there any chance you'd want to meet up in ames, and drive to Waterloo?
I would, in fact. I dunno when I'm leaving yet, probably somewhere between 7:30-8. We'll talk, regardless.

What, you're not going to drive on them like I do? JK, I got one fixed, the other just needs a repacking, so it's totally drivable. You gonna autox it once you get those fixed?

the rears are sealed bearings, they cannot be repacked.
that was my plan all along; to start learning autocross on a slower car like my civic. once i feel comfortable i will step up to the talon. that will suck because all the experience i have cornering is in a fwd car and i'm gonna have to forget all that for my awd talon. i cannot wait to autocross that thing, but i want to do it right and learn as much technique as i can.
i also have another civic in the works, but that won't happen until winter.
i might have to catch up with you guys on your way to waterloo.

Sweet! that makes it a bit easier! I just found out there is going to be an autocross event on August 24th at Iowa Speedway. I am still torn between which one i want to go to, but i could possible hit the dyno on Saturday and hit the Autocross on Sunday. Just a thought, though.
We will see what happens when it gets closer to August.
There is also a Find the Line event going on at Mid America Motorplex the 23rd and 24th

im building my stroker and wont be done in time. I hope its going to be done before the end of the summer to take it out to the track. I have a camero that I would like to introduce to 2.3l of forced induction power.

you are going to swap a 2.3L stroker into a camaro?
just kidding!

I know the bearings can't be repacked, I'm just saying that's all they would need, justifying my continuing to drive on them... come on, it's a DSM, how can I not know about the bearings?
And yeah, once you've got FWD down, it's a real b*tch forgetting all of that. Because you do have to forget all of it. You'd think you can use a lot of the same techniques, like LFTB, but sadly, it doesn't work that way. Personally, I'm glad I jumped into AWD and forced induction at the same time as autox, and not trying to do one at a time. I'm learning a lot more, and doing it faster. I've picked up this car faster than anything I've previously driven, and there's a lot more to learn than usual for me in this case.
And catching up with us on the way to Waterloo would be out of your way, wouldn't it? You could take 27 straight from Clear Lake, whereas We'll be taking 35 up to 20. Of course, you're more than welcome to stay the night at my place if you don't want to drive all the way back up to MC/CL on saturday night.
i was thinking i would be staying in des moines and leaving from des moines to waterloo. last time i cruised des moines, i ended up watching street races all night and left town at like 3:00 am.
i dunno what i am going to do now. i might head back to clear lake on saturday night to sleep and take off from clear lake to go to waterloo. i do know that my girlfriend will want to go to autocross, but i'm not so sure she will want to run around town all night and stay up late. i might just go back home on saturday night so she doesn't have to come to the meet.
Working on a website for our group, the Diamond Star Tuner Association. It'll have forums, blogs, updated meet and event information, a membership application for those wanting to become part of the group, and photos as well.
Might want to think about a recolor of the logo so it fits with the background... not that it would be hard or anything.
Since redleader36 designed it, I'm leaving that up to him. He says he's emailing them to me so we'll test it out. The website will probably take some time to get all the problems worked out.
By the way. If you want to look at the forums on that website you must sign up and then click on the forums link on the left side. When you do that it will email me and I have to accept you before you can access the forums.
