Pre-HIN / Redleader's Birthday Grillin!

Who: Any Car Guys Interested
When: Saturday September 27th at 12:00 Noon
Where: Clear Lake Central Park
What: SAUSAGE FEST, I mean Grilling Bratwursts/BSing/Bench Racing/Photo Ops
Saturday is the big Minneapolis Hot Import Night Car Show. What other way to get ready for the show than food? Come over to Central Park in beautiful Clear Lake and enjoy some delicious Johnsonville Brats! Take some group pictures in front of the gorgeous lake. Show off your ride to all the other car guys. I will be bringing my talon out to do just this.
HIN starts at 5:00 in Minneapolis and is exactly a 2hour: 3minute drive from Clear Lake (according to google maps). This means that we would have to leave Clear Lake by 3:00 to get to the Minneapolis Convention Center by just after 5:00.
Just bring yourself, your car [if desired], and a healthy appetite. If you do not want your best car going to the Twin Cities, you are welcome to park at my house and jump in your Carpool Vehicle there. Just for safety, I do not recommend taking anything appealing to thieves up to Minneapolis. The parking lots should be guarded just like they were last year, but that is not for sure and is not the best defense against theft.
I hope to see a few of you guys there!
Here are some google maps to help:
I-35 in Des Moines to Central Park in Clear Lake
Central Park in Clear Lake to Minneapolis Convention Center
The Whole Trip from I-35 in Des Moines, to Central Park in Clear Lake, to the Minneapolis Convention Center

maybe next year when i get back but other than that on my way out of nebraska a state dick pulled me and my parents over and gave us 89 in a 75 speeding tickets. Since ive been here ive only seen a white 2g and a red 1g couldnt tell if either were turbo or not they were too far away to tell. this a small ass town its smaller than marshall town with more population.

It's a great car, it really is.
It's back to the DSM for now, but we'll see how long that lasts. I still have some minor oil leaks to attend to, but I'll just deal with those at MAP tomorrow before I dyno (I'm near the end, so I've got all day).

it depends.
do you want traction? yes=z
do you want cheap parts? yes=gst
do you want to go fast before modifications? yes=z
do you want to drive in winter? yes=gst
do you want cheap mods? yes=gst
do you want reliabilty? yes=z
do you want cheap replacement parts? yes=gst
do you want a back seat? yes=gst
both cars are awesome. both have advantages and disadvantages.
zs are really quick right off the factory floor and are a really nicely balanced road race car. dsms have almost limitless potential and your upgrades on a dsm will cost a fraction of what they will on a z.

plus, most shops will refuse to work on the electrical system on Zs, and a lot of the upgrades for it tie into the electrical. =like red said, Zs are fast "out of the box" but with the ease and potential a DSM carries with it, a DSM would be the better choice, its the poor mans tuner lol. personally i love the 300zs, their look, style, speed, power, customization. but unless you have about 10k to drop into it on just labor since you have to take the engine out to do jut about anything past intakes, its going to be expensive unless you do it all at once on your own time.

they are reliable though. my friend nemo ran a 13 sec quarter mile with a melted piston. you can be sure he drove it home too.
personally i kinda think it is healthy to dabble with a few different cars and feel out their differences.
it really is your call, though. but you are asking mitsu entusiasts on a mitsu forum if you should rather get a nissan :P

Any DSN'rs in the Iowa City/University of Iowa campus area? My car isn't on campus but I might bring it out next year.

i didnt say they werent reliable, they are. im just saying its going to be expensive to work on unlike a DSM thats all. if i was given a choice between a 99 GSX or a 95 300zx TT, id go with the TT because of the power and reliability off the bat. put some nice sticky tires in the back and you will have a pretty beast, stock drag car. and damn, 13 secs on a melted piston thats crazy to do that in the first place lol

the parts are shipped. i sure hope i got your address right. they should be there in 3 business days. i sent you both tcus and the isc. i didnt even think about it when i was in the junkyard, i should have grabbed the tcu from a non-tubo. oh well. if neither of these work for you let me know. i will be going back within a week or 2.
take care!

Kyle, get on the DSTA forums!
But to answer your question, I've been doing alright, the Talon's seen a few upgrades, a small 16g for one, and I've got an E8 fuel pump waiting to go in.
