A cruise is for sure. Depending on where we do it BBQ can be done.
As for prizes...we're just starting this meet up. If there are enough people and this becomes a regular meet, which is what we're hoping, then we can get funding later to support things like that.
And there shouldn't be any ricers...Atleast I'm hoping their aren't
And if we want to get a park like your suggesting GsXtacY325 then we'd have to reserve it which also usually requires funding.

Now I am not sure what you consider rice, but I think of myself more along the lines of a show car in the progress. I have a body kit, CF hood, rims (black not chrome) I don't try to make my car more than it is. Yes I have those damn altezza lights, but I like the look on my car. I hate the huge wing and 3 inch muffler unless it serves a performance purpose. Performance mods will follow shorty after I finish up the interior due to these cars liking to break when you start screwing with the engine. Hope my non-performanced based car is alright with you guys.

I'm not one to judge when it comes to the ricer stuff, but I definately don't agree with the guys who are the "Fast and the Furious Wanna Be" types. To me a dollar spent on a performance mod always beats a dollar spent on a cosmetic mod, but all people are invited to go without judgement.
Thanks,
Zach

To me, rice is an attitude, not a style of a car. A ricer talks shit, brags, and actually knows little to none (and usually PAYS to build there car that way ). There is a major difference between a ricer and poor or aggressive styling. Although there are some "tricked out whips" out there that make me think... ?
Just because the car is not performance oriented does not mean that the car lacks good style or that the owner has his/her shit together and can hold or listen to a social automotive conversation/discussion without unneeded ignorance and gloating.
Me ----->  <-----Ricer

Yea, Thats why you go JDM everything...hahaha. JDM is the BEST. The look and the power. But yea its true, i rather do performance than looks, but remember look are good also. Just don't leave your car all rusty and stuff. I like the stock look of a 1g. Just throw on some nice wheel and drop your car with springs, not those cheap ebay coilover.

It would have worked if I had any vacation days left, I used it all up going home to South Africa for a month, a few weeks ago. And I would have to take two days bc I also work Saturdays. Count me in if my office burns down between now and then! It would have worked better on a Saturday then I can take a half day instead of two full days.

If several people plan on going we'll have to switch it to Saturday to get into a bigger place for free, since it wouldn't be free Friday.

GsXtacY325 has a good idea of what a ricer is...I'd agree with your definition.
And personally if it's anything I spend on looks then it's got to still look stock. To me the best ride...is a sleeper.
Plus if anyone's a shit talker at a DSM meet like this then they need a life. This is a hobby...not something to bitch about.

i think of it as buying a car and throwing on stuff as follows:
"fart can" u know just the typical muffler tip that sounds retarted
lowering it to where u cant see under the damn thing
putting a wing on it so big that there are not any cars on this planet that need that much down force
tinting the windows so dark that u cant even see out
spray painting racing stripes, with lines so crooked that it wouldnt impress a preschool teacher
a huge ####ing APC eyebrow
stickers all over the car of products that arent even made for the ride
lol sorry if i affended anybody

I'm thinking the weather isn't warm enough yet for anybody to really be down there. Give it another month and that place will be packed. I rolled down there all last year, made quiet a few friends just cruising around talking to people.

I work at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott. People are already out on the loop. If I can get my AWD put back together then I'll head down there this weekend if the weather's good. Just give me a call my number's posted down below.

I got the pm. I may stop out for a bit, I no longer have a DSM, I sold my 99 GSX a couple of months ago, but wouldn't mind coming out. May stick out like a sore thumb in my 03 G35 coupe, but will still be fun to see what DSM's are around now that the old school DSM guys in Des Moines are all basically gone.
