hi i gotta question, i have a 95 eclipse rs, and just recently the timing slipped, i hear the bad is the valves couldve bent, but i called a mechanic and he said that since the exhaust is "popping" and trying to turn over that it might just need a new belt and be re timed. the belt moves when u try to turn it over i think there is stripped teeth on the bottom part of the belt that rides the cam. sound like just the belt? or am i screwed? p.s. the mechanic has been a authorized mechanic for over 30 years. he said its gunna cost 500 bucks to get it fixed,,, sound right?

My thermostat is bad and the one they gave me is 195. My book says 190.
Is that normal? Should I not worry about that.
