Well, finances have slowed the engine build and while I'm waiting on the bank to fill bank up for the next set of parts, I decided to gut the interior and do some weight loss.
I pulled the power steering. I can't at this time find a manual rack, so I'm going with the looped power steering option and see what happens. Just having the PS pump and hoses out of the engine bay alone, makes...

Well, I'm figuring this blog thing!!
I have the timing belt done and after a couple of tries, I got it bang on as far as what the tensioner arm setting should be. Got the sump pan on and primed the oil pump. Installed the exhaust mani and torqued it down. I am eliminating all the A/C and heating stuff, so I modded the thermostat housing and water pump/ coolant pipe nipples to get rid of the...

Bought the car as a stock TSi/AWD. Original turbo blew up and I replaced it with a Evo B16G, added a MBC and new intake pipes. still ran the original MAF and fuel rail/injectors. Put on a AFPR and ran a wally 255HP+ rewire kit. Started pulling some logs on my pocketlogger and found all sorts of things going on

Well, due to my job and time I spend away, because of it, the engine is coming along in spurts.
After my piston ring compressor broke (new by the way) and I got it replaced, I have the pistons in and torqued. I put in ARP main cap bolts and boy it looks nice.
I cleaned up the front case and started putting it back together with my new timing components. I put the head on and...

Well got the block home and crank is back in and the new ARP main cap studs are nice. The nice thing about having my block back and not putting the junker that I bought, is that at least I know the block is a turbo and I have the oil squirters back in. I was fearful about rebuilding an engine for turbo use, without the squirters in. I guess it's a good thing I found the mistakes of the previous guy...
