Ok guys, I need your help. I bought a 95 talon TSI AWD about a year ago. And a few days after owning the car I was drive at around 4000 rpm in 3rd gear, and then the car jerked forward like something gave in. After that I was taking it back to my house, and when I would rev the engine up,and let it down rev it has a loud whine. And when I would go to downshift into first gear I had to stop the car completely, turn the car off,and put it in gear. But I've been doing a little research on problems similar to this, and most of them point toward the transfercase. But I was wanting to get your guys input. Also if this helps I don't think the guy had the clutch set up correctly,it wouldn't launch it would just stutter to about 1500rpms,and then it would grab(pretty sure it was an ACT clutch set up). But any help would be appreciated, because I'm probably going to take the transfercase out this weekend, and take a look at it. Don't know if this makes since, but I also heard it could be one of the transfercase bearings? I thank you in advance for your help.

A bad transfer case will typically whine while driving under a load, and proceed to get louder at higher speeds. A tcase has nothing to do with having trouble getting into gears, or engine rpms.
Its something else causing your noise.

So would you say it points more toward the transmission,or the engine. I think it would make since that it would be the trans, because I was having trouble with the clutch befor everything went south. But I wouldn't have a clue as to what's wrong with it?could it possibly be the throw out bearing,or something like that?

If it was the TOB it would only make noise if the clutch was engaged, no? My honest guess would be the transfer case. Hell, pick up a transfercase and swap them out. If its not then you got a spare, LOL or just relist it.
