HUGE THANKS to Jason Wier and John Wigger for taking time off from their jobs to help out. Also, Jordan Watson of National Speed for the dyno time and Justin helping with tuning.
Wendy was able to see the car Dyno'd today. She had a decent day, I tell you it was because of the car! She has her nerve block tomorrow at 11AM. We are so excited. She will hopefully be able to drive soon.
Best wishes,
Brad Pate

I am sure I speak for Jason as well when I say it was our pleasure. Hope to see Wendy behind the wheel at the track soon.
Most of the morning was spent working with 2 problems first being car acted like it was hitting the rev limiter at 7k and 2 the boost would not move. Who knew on this boost controller, - not + was more boost. And it had a very poor ability to control boost it would creep from 23psi @ 4500 rpm to 29 by 8K pretty linearly. Boost came on fast 3800rpm would be full boost on a real boost controller making for a very broad power band. First problem was with the breaking up was spark blow out, once we got the boost to move it would blow out sooner. We think it has a weak coil but with the plugs gapped to 18 it went away. We will try another coil and if needed wires to remedy this.
With the boost coming on so strangely we did not take the time to flatten out the A/F completely and fine tune things. Once there is a real boost controller we will see what it will do. Honestly I somewhat worry about the bolt on bulleseye housing and it ability to carry the power way out but we will see. Car is already making decent power. As a comparison on this same dyno the dyno operator's full interior civic coupe made 428 and runs mid 10's@130mph, as well as Jason's DD awd talon makes low 600s and runs 9.70s.
Look forward to seeing you on Tuesday and seeing what we can finish up with.
John

545hp 420tq and 2320LBS (corner scaled it today), should run ok. Fuel map will need some more tweaking but its getting much closer. I will let Brad post any details he wants to, Car has a FLAT tq curve and should run well.

I feel all tingly inside! It is wonderful that the car started and that it made almost 500 whp! That is awesome for not messing with the A/F! Also a huge thanks to brad, i got a chance to see an article in a Mitsubishi magazine that had wendys car in it, and among the list of names who contributed was mine! Im so glad my small donation meant something to you guys it really touched me that i was mentioned. I really wish you guys the best of luck and i hope that she will be able to hang on for dear life when she takes her first ride in this beast the tuner's community has created!

It made 545 not almost 500? And even on the first dyno if that what you are speaking of there was a lot of tweaking of the a/f to get it where it was. We certainly didn't just strap it down and make a pull and it was at that power level.

I would like to take a minute and thank everyone and anyone who has donated to Wendy's car or kept the Pate family in thier thoughts and prayers. The support that Wendy has gotten from the DSM community has pulled her through many tough times in the past few months.
I am here with Brad and Wendy in these tough times and I am speaking on his behalf. It is with great sorrow that I must tell everyone that Wendy's condition has deteriorated. She is now in a hospice facility and is being surrounded with friends and family. Wendy is phenominal woman and is still refusing to go without a fight.
Wendy's car will still make it down the 1320 but it will be in her memory. Wendy's spirit will be the co-pilot stearing the car down the track.
Please continue to send your prayers this way, We are extremely appreciative.

So I've been following this since day one and I was hoping this would not happen. Watching the DSM community come together as a whole and help complete Wendy's car is absolutely spectacular. Its been a huge inspiration to complete my own car and get it back on the road. My prayers go out to the Pate family and, as others have said, I wish the best of luck regarding the recent update.

Found this randomlly while surfing Google for pics of a certain exhaust. Wanted to make sure that the rest of the Tuners community could hear from Wendy herself, if you hadn't seen it already.
Good luck, Girly. I expect to see one sick build when I make it over to the other side.

I hate to do this but it has to be done. Wendy has passed on to a better place, Wendy left us at 2.30 this afternoon. She leaves us with memories and thoughts of inspiration. Wendy will be with us in spirit where ever there is a DSM and more then one person. She will be loved by many and will be missed by everyone. I will stay here with Brad and the boys as long as they need me.
Brad has a lot to deal with right now so I will be speaking on his behalf in the near future, Thank you for all of your kind words in our time of sorry.

Thanks for keeping us updated Sandra. I'm sad to hear the news, but know she's on to a better place. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with everyone affected in this tough time.
When Brad feels up to it and regains the mental and physical strength, I am looking forward to seeing what the car can do.

It's truly amazing that you are able to be there with them, Sandra. I wish I could get down there myself and I will do so as soon as I can. My wife was 14 when she lost her mother to cancer, so I've seen firsthand how it affects the people who are left behind. I know that Brad is in for a rough time, but if he's able to channel 1/100th of the strength that Wendy had he will pull through ok. Please pass along to him that his extended family in PA is thinking of him and the boys.
RIP Sis, I'm a better person for having known you. Somehow it's fitting that the last time I got to talk to you, I could barely hear you over the background noise of your car on the dyno.
I updated the build album with some more personal pics:

It is hard to find words to say at a time like this. I think the best thing we can do right now as the DSM community is keep Wendy's family in our thoughts and prayers.
Rest in peace, Wendy Pate. Your memory will not be forgotten.
