Ive been cleaning up my engine bay lately, working on a wire tuck etc. But noticed at the power steering reservoir theres a line that comes out of the botton, goes down by the radiator then loops back in. What is the purpose of this line? And could it be shortened and looped with a rubber line?

It goes to the power steering cooler. That looped metal line in the mouth of the car is the cooler.

Folks will tell you "I pulled mine and had no problems!" all the time. Are there real stats collected on what removing the cooler does? nope. Personally I trust there was a reason Mitsu chose to put a cooler in the fluid loop.

Good to know thats exactly the answer i was looking for thanks!

...and Mitsu also chose to cast blocks that can be prone to crank walk. I have not seen any data/stats to disprove removing it causes high rate of damage. What most suggest is if you auto-x, track, or drive it hard constantly, then keep the loop. With brake fluids today I highly doubt it would reach near the boiling point to do damage.

This is in the instructions of some front mount intercoolers to loop it back. I have the 7" street fmic from ets and it in fact says to loop it, I have had no issues with the pump or steering FYI.
