I'm looking to switch to electric power steering and electric water pump this winter.

BACKGROUND:
I had a fellow autocross club member and autocross/formula-1/everything-racer veteran (including sled dogs!) and mentor show me his new build a few months ago. He has a boosted RX-7, completely race built (license plate is MUSH from his dog days), and he was sporting an electric water pump system that provided the precise cooling level necessary across the entire course and for cool down. (If you haven't AutoX'd, you likely won't understand the changes in air flow and the need for variable cooling.)

The safety measure from this system was astounding from his logs - completely consistent and kept his temps EXACT, no matter what the conditions, even during the entire Cascade Lakes Hill Climb weekend. I was quite jealous with my temps bouncing all over the place during boosted corners, poor mountain wind currents, and the overall draw felt during acceleration.

QUESTION:
Intent on swapping to electric, the alternator relocate is no big deal, but I'm not ready for losing the power steering. I need to do this swap first, and I need to find a list of other success stories. The only complete one I have found does not know what brand/where it was pulled from.

Does anyone know a 'fairly' direct swap for an EHPS System (preferably with variable controls as demand necessitates)?

First off ill just say I dont know anything about it. I also dont think anything other than a well kept cooling system other than maybe some ducting between the FMIC and radiator is needed.

On the days I run dual drivers and pretty much hot lap my talon, I still dont have problems with the stock cooling system with just water and water wetter. I can understand wanting an electric pwr steering pump though with the 1gs cut-out problems though.

Craig Davies makes an electric water pump $260 and a controller for it $170. Stewart warner, I think, has one with an integrated controller $360 for plastic housing and about $40 for the billet housing. Check summit's circle trak section for the cheaper pump.

You could also just machine the impeller off of the water stock pump untill you could find an electric ps pump. You would also have to remove thermostat.
