Hey guys, this squealing is driving me crazy. It is audible during acceleration, deceleration, and coasting from the front driver side wheel any time I go over 10mph. The weird thing is that the noise stops whenever I apply the brakes, but it returns when I release them. This made me think that it had something to do with the brakes, but the only two things I can think of don't make sense to me. I thought that it could have been warped rotors, but there is no vibration or noise during hard breaking. I also thought it could be rust on the brake pads, but I drive it daily so there shouldn't be any rust right? I have no idea what to look for so any suggestions are much appreciated. :thumb:

Make sure your speakers are turned up for the video otherwise it is kind of hard to hear the squeaking...

Are your pads worn down? Are there metal plates on your pads so when you get to a point they scrape the rotors (telling you, you need new pads) Are the stainless shims on the caliper brackets rubbing the rotor? Did your dust sheild get hit and is now scraping the rotor?
Can you jack up that side of the car, turn the wheel and hear it? I'd pull the wheel and inspect the side the noise is coming from.

Pads are fine and if there were metal plates on the pads they would only be scraping the rotors during braking...which is the only time I don't hear the noise. Dust shield looked ok to me. I jacked the car up and turned the wheel by hand and I didn't feel any resistance or any scraping, so I dropped it by my mechanic today to see if he knew what was making that noise. The only way he thought he could "guarantee" the noise will go away is if I get a $700 brake job!OMG I'm like...no thank you I the noise is not that important to me. But I have no idea what it could be! The only thing I can think of is that some little rock or something from the road got lodged somewhere where I can't see and is scraping the hell out of something. I am hoping that when we get some rain in the next couple of days that might help it...

Not always true. Check to see how much life you have left on your pads. Be sure to check the inside and outside pad. Check if you have those plates on the pad, most likely it'll only be on 1 pad. If you only have a couple millimeters of pads left you may want to replace them. You can do a pad change with ease and a few tools.

While the car is in the air when checking the brakes, check the movement of the tire. It could possibly a wheel bearing
