toronto,
Just wondering who here has done this and approx. how much weight it saved. Is it comparable to a cf or fiberglass hatch at all?

What is there to gut on a hood besides the stock heat shield? Honestly, if you're that anal about weight, just get a cf or fiberglass hood without a ridiculous amount of clear coat on it and paint match it. Just realize that the fitment of such pieces is hit or miss, you may have to run hood pins to ensure that you don't end up eating your hood at highway speeds.

The fiberglass hood I am going to buy only weighs 10 pounds. The fiberglass hatch weighs only 8 pounds without glass. I don't think you will be matching those numbers by gutting the stock pieces.
