I've been doing some searching but am just not 100% sure on what to go with. I'm looking to get a set of either 17x7.5 or 17.8 for my 1g. This car will be a year round driven car with summer tires and winter tires being shared on these rims.

17x7.5 have an offset of 45mm
17x8 have an offset of 35mm or 48mm.

Car is on Eibach pro kit as well. Am I better off with the 7.5's and the 45mm or can I use one of the 8" wide rims?

I do believe I've seen someone using the 7.5" with the 45mm offset and just being even with the front fenders which is kinda what I have now so I don't mind. Just looking for a bit of insite as I'm never good at picking wheel sizes.

Thanks in advance.

I would go with the 17x8 +35 offset. Those will clear factory spring perches and not stick out.

Run a 245/45/17 and you'll be set.

I'd again go with the 245/45/17. Assuming there is sufficient clearance, I never ran that size wheel so I can't be sure, but I think they'll fit

I too would recommend the 17 x 8's with a 35 to 42 offset. I recommend a 225/45-17 with the 7 1/2" wheel and a 235/40-17 with the 8" wheel. I like to push my car really hard in the turns. The wider (8") rim with a 235/40 makes your average trip exciting. Just my 2 cents though. The evo wheels with there stock Advans are a great choice for the 1g's as well.

Ok, I've been doing some searching around and wasn't having luck. I am a big fan of wider tires as there are a lot of back roads in my area. So I'll have to look into the 17x8 with the 35mm offset. I just took off 16x7 with a 40mm offset and they seemed to stick out in the front just a bit.

Thanks for the responses, I really appreciate it.

I have been running a 17X8 -35 for about 10 years.
235/45/17 Kumho MX tires are what I have mounted, and they fit both a 1G and 2G car.
I think the tires work better in the 45 aspect ratio, for me the 40's were too harsh.

I would like to run a 45series as I live on a dirt road and do travel some harsh roads.

Do you happen to have any pics of your wheel/tires?

Also anyone who maybe running a 235 or 245/45 tire have pictures??

Thanks!!!

I mention this in nearly every wheel fitment thread, but flush is all in the eye of the beholder. the 16x7 +40mm in no way would stick out in my eyes. A 17x8 +35 is not even fully flush, it tucks in when you apply camber to the car.

Also, in respect to tire selection...doesn't matter if you go with a 40 or 45 series sidewall, it's your preference. But just make sure to get a quality tire. I hate when people get decent wheels and cheap out on tires. It's already been mentioned, but cheap yet quality tires would be the Falken RT-615 and the Kuhmo MX.

What kind of pictures are you looking for? I have Evo wheels on my 1g with 245/40 tires and everything seems fine so far. Only put a few hundred miles on it though.

I don't have any decent pics. And by saying sticks out it could be very well due to my tires which were a 215/55/16. They were snow tires mounted on my slipstreams (car is driven year round, might as well look good too) They were rather even with the fender to maybe just out a touch. This is fine with me, I just wanted to be sure not to get a wheel where they are out further mainly because, i live on a shitty dirt road. And it sucks getting mudsling down the side of the car, LOL.

I'm also still tire shopping. I'd like to keep tire price $150 or under per tire. Its been a while since I've purchased summer tires. My car has only seen winters since I've owned it. Now I'll be driving year round. I've mainly run bridgestones in the past on my truck and one set of yoko avs es100's (came on wheels) so I'm still doing some research.

Guess I'd be looking to see how something like a 245 would look from the rear. Or anyone running 245/45/17's or 235/45/17's fill out the wheel wells.
