Ok, so i resurfaced my rotors in school, and put new brake pads on. Well i started to drive, and the pads were grinding the hell out of the rotors. so when i got home, i looked at it and my rotor was trashed. so i went and bought new rotors, another new set of pads, and a caliper from the junkyard.

So i installed everything, and the outboard pad is still getting stuck on the rotor, but not the whole pad, only a small section , the same thing happened the first time. I was considering sanding down the pads a little bit, but i dont think that will help.

Any suggestions on what to do?

The caliper is hanging up. If you haven't covered this in class, ask, its common and a good lesson.

Take the caliper off and clean the slide pins. Also, very importantly and neglected by many, clean the inside of the caliper where the slide pins insert. Use a light grease for the pins. Some people use anti-sieze and that does work, i prefer a light grease that can withstand high temps. Wheel bearing grease is a bit heavy but will work.

I'll take that one step further. If you have a caliper problem. Replace both calipers with rebuilt calipers which are available at your local parts store. Why take a chance on not being able to stop just to save a few bucks?

Terry was also right about the sliders. They make a caliper grease just for the occasion.

Good Luck
